Meet One of Our

Rescued Cats

Strong's Problems Started at 4 WEEKS OLD

We first met Strong on Friday morning, September 8th, 2023. He was just 4 weeks old and his belly was 2 1/2 times bigger than what it should have been.  He was found at the front door, 9am at a local bank with feces on it's behind and not standing/walking well.  We got to him at 10:30am and had him at a vets by 1:30pm.  After a hands-on exam, given a dewormer, there was a concern about the size of the belly, but thought it MIGHT possibly be worms, bladder and bowels AT THAT TIME was not a concern, so we were to bring him home and see what happened over that weekend. Sunday 9/10/23 @ 5pm, Strong had continual Diarrhea until 11pm and continued on/off overnight.  Strong was dropped off at another vets office on an emergency basis 7:30am on Monday 9/11/23.

Strong's Horrible Diagnosis From ER Vet Visit

Due to ALL what I was experiencing with this poor little kitten over the weekend, I thought maybe Strong had FPV or FIP and that we would loose him.  Dr. Fink, with Orrville Veterinary Clinic told us that unfortunately and probably HOURS before we initially found Strong, he was HIT by a Vehicle.  Strong had No Feeling or Use in his Tail.  Had NO CONTROL of his Bladder or Bowels.  To Boot, Strong also had Fleas, Tape & Round Worms and a Parasite, Giardia.  At this point is when we NAMED him STRONG. After 10 more days Strong regained use of his Bladder, but for close to four months to follow, had uncontrollable Diarrhea and north of 200+ baths to keep him clean.  As of today, he STILL will drop small chestnut size poop on the floor and is completely unaware of this happening, but does have Bowel Movements.

Long Road Ahead for Strong's Full Recovery

It is cases like these that drain Rescue Organizations Financially. Strong is as of March 2025 right at 20 Months old.  Starting at 9 months old Strong was having severe PAIN Attacks in his TAIL about 2-3 inches away from the anus area, RANDOM Attacks.  Sometimes a few times a day, once a day or once every couple of days.  Trying to SAVE his tail from Amputation we have been doing Chiropractic Treatments, Laser & Acupuncture Treatments and NOW since late December 2024 he is on a series of DAILY whole food supplements for his nervous system to which we ARE NOW seeing attacks once every 10-14 days and MORE Response and Movement in his tail which is very encouraging. We are now going to TRY until the end of May 2025 with these treatments and as long as we see continued improvement we will continue to TRY to save his tail and improve his Bowels further.

Strong has more Freedom Now with POPSICLE STICKS

It Broke Our Hearts to see this wonderful kitten lose the first 14 months of his life to being locked up in a large cage 12-14 hours a day and in a plastic cone all the time except to eat and be held to give him a break from the cone. This was done for his protection from biting his tail and causing severe bleeding and wounds.  At least now since November of last year he is no longer in a cage. Strong is in a cone from about 11pm until 6:30am daily and in popsicle sticks the rest of the time.  We do this to allow the tail the breathe and be out in the open for at least 7-8 hours a day.  He is now much happier and has become an awesome lap & bed kitty.  As I think back to all the HOURS of labor, forcing medication with a pill popper, wrapping the tail daily, all the vet trips along with the financial debt this has cost us, Strong's life is SO WORTH IT !!

Strong's Status Today (March 2025) & Future

This story about Strong is actually an abbreviated version.  There is so much more to tell, but you'll get the gist of what Strong's life has been and what he has gone through as a rescued kitty.  Strong's Vet Care alone for 2024 was $1371.26 and his prescription food cost was well over $800. As or March 7th, 2025 he is on Normal Food with a Nutritional Protocol to try to save his tail and give the nerves TIME to heal & regenerate which is an extremely slow process.  Until then, we will give Strong the best life possible while smothering him with Love!!  A BIG THANK YOU to the donors who have helped with some of his expenses since 2023. If you feel compelled or would like to help us with his past or future expenses, just scroll down a little to see multiple ways to send us a donation.  We ARE 501c3 non-profit!!
