The 3-3-3 Cat Adoption Guidelines
FIRST Three Days
At Catify Cafe & Adoptions, Inc., we understand that your cat may not feel comfortable when they first arrive. That's why we STRONGLY SUGGEST a 3-day (some cats may take longer, some less) decompression period to allow them to acclimate to their new surroundings. During this time, your cat may not act like their "normal" self, and may feel overwhelmed, unsure, afraid, nervous, or experience other emotions. They may have trouble eating or drinking or stop altogether. This is all normal and part of the adjustment process. "IF" they do not eat/drink for three days straight, contact your veterinarian right away as this rarely happens.
FIRST Three Weeks
You need to understand that cats need Time and Lots of Patience to adjust to new routines, environments and new pet parents, we call this a settling-in process for all rescued cats. During this time, your cat will have the opportunity to begin to let their guard down and show their true personality. As they learn their new routine, they will also become more comfortable with their new surroundings and the humans in their life.
FIRST Three Months
Most cats will need up to a 3-month period (We've seen some take a YEAR based on what they went through before being rescued) for your new feline family member to feel totally at home. During this time, your cat will slowly build trust and form an authentic bond with their new family. Most cats will feel comfortable and secure in their new surroundings, thanks to the care, love and attention they receive from their loving humans.
